Sajid Khan: Akshay is a superstar and he is here to stay

Sajid Khan is amused. And no, it has nothing to do with his on-stage spat with Ashutosh Gowariker a few days back. Instead he is finding it rather funny that so many out there are willing to dismiss Akshay Kumar even though the first week of CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA is not yet over. Raising a question over a film being called a flop and an actor being written off within an opening weekend, Sajid finds it all rather absurd.

"People are talking about whether Akshay Kumar or CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA is finished. Well, I think this is a senseless question because the week is not yet over", says Sajid Khan, "Let's talk about a film being a hit or a flop or a disaster after the collections come through."

Narrating the examples of a few films in the past that have been labeled as a flop on their opening weekend, only to find a sustained audience for themselves in weeks to come, Sajid defends, "This is not something that has been happening for the first time ever. In the past too many big films have been written off at the very stages of their release but once the collections came through, even the harshest of the critics were forced to go quiet."

The film maker who has delivered a superhit with Akshay in the form of HEYY BABYY and would soon be beginning shoot of his next HOUSEFULL with him makes a parting statement, "Akshay is a superstar and he is here to stay."
